Clock math trips people up because minutes roll over at 60, not 100. This calculator does the carrying and borrowing for you: add or subtract two durations, scale one up or down, or total a whole list — with every result shown in both h:mm and payroll decimal form. Unlike the work hours calculator, which measures between clock times, this page works on amounts of time themselves.
Work in minutes, then convert back:
Total = (h₁×60 + m₁) ± (h₂×60 + m₂) Hours = Total ÷ 60 (whole part) Mins = Total mod 60
7:30 + 2:45 → 450 + 165 = 615 minutes = 10:15.
Durations scale like any number once in minutes:
1:30 × 5 = 90 × 5 = 450 min = 7:30 6:00 ÷ 4 = 360 ÷ 4 = 90 min = 1:30
Results round to the nearest whole minute.
Every result also appears as a payroll decimal:
Decimal = Hours + Minutes ÷ 60 10:15 = 10.25 7:30 = 7.50

Add the minutes first; every full 60 minutes carries over as one hour. 7:30 + 2:45 gives 30 + 45 = 75 minutes — that's 1 hour 15, so the answer is 7 + 2 + 1 = 10 hours and 15 minutes. The first card above does the carrying for you.
If the minutes you're subtracting are bigger than the minutes you have, borrow 60 from the hours: 5:15 − 2:40 becomes 4:75 − 2:40 = 2:35. If the second time is larger overall, the result is shown as negative.
